Mudan Incident Historical Place

Introduce

The Mudan Incident occurred in the year 1874 when Japanese immigrants, who had drifted to Ryukyu, were accidentally killed. In response, Japan dispatched forces to Taiwan, leading to intense conflicts with the local indigenous people. To commemorate this significant event in modern Taiwanese history and honor the brave struggles of the indigenous people at that time, a 12-hectare memorial park was established near the Shihmen Ancient Battlefield. Strolling through the park, visitors can gain a profound understanding of the entire incident through historical story walls, sculptures of Aruqu, the leader of Mudan Society, and his son, as well as the Monument of Love and Peace.
