Introduce
In the past, East Gate was an essential road leading to the eastern part of Puynam Hall. The famous Alang Yi Trail starts from East Gate, passes through the mountains, crosses the Bayao Bay, and finally reaches the Puynam area along the east coast. This ancient road carries historical memories and connects Hengchun with the eastern part of Taiwan in terms of transportation and culture.
Nowadays, there is an isolated hut outside the east gate of the city. Every year, there is the Ghost Festival on the 15th day of July of the lunar calendar, and the "erection of the Ku canopy" tourist and cultural event. The "erection of Ku canopy" is a special traditional cultural activity in Hengchun, where people erect towering Ku canopy during the festival to enshrine deities and hold activities such as circumambulation, rituals and performances, making the festival a very lively one.
Dongmen and its surrounding activities and cultural attractions bring a unique charm to Hengchun, attracting many visitors to explore and experience. 2. From Kaohsiung Railway Station and take Kuo-Kuang Bus (toward Hengchun) or Pingtung Bus to Hengchun Station.
